I happened to read a book called 'Illustrated Guide to The South Indian Railway'. The book was written about 100 years back (around 1900). The author says the following :
"Except after heavy rain the cooum is a body of stagnant water noted for its offensive smell, a condition of affairs which government has long proposed for remedy."
So the river has been smelling bad for more than 100 years for various reasons. It would really be a challenging task for the Tamilnadu government to clean up the river and make it like Thames River of London. So people can have restaurants near the river, boat rides over the river. It feels good in thinking of having food near the river or going for a boat ride.
Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has taken the lead to clean up the river. I hope he can complete the task successfully. If he completes this task successfully, it will be a milestone in his career. Because he is going to change something out there for 100 years.
Dream continues...............
